The Shadow Man

I dream in color. My dreams are very much like mini movies because I often hear music in the background. The music enhances the mood of the scene and intensifies what I am experiencing while in another realm.  Often, I feel the urge to try to recreate not only what I see but the feeling I get from the overall dream experience.  This painting was created after I had a beautiful dream that I was walking on a foggy beach where I encountered a strange dark figure. The title of the painting is "The Shadow Man".

After attending a great workshop in the Catskills with Kim English this past summer, I have become more interested in painting figures. I have painted figurative scenes in the past but my primary focus had been landscapes and seascapes. While at the workshop, the model took a break on a hot summer day and she rested on a blanket. I caught that moment with my camera and recently decided to do this painting.
